Dominion East Ohio hired ka to renovate an existing vacant warehouse they owned that included maintenance bays, test labs, welding bays and parts storage, into the company’s corporate and operational offices.
To preserve the character of the 1930s dark brick building, ka replaced the windows with new, energy efficient units that were designed to match the existing window sashes. The interior work was more extensive and included asbestos removal, installation of a new variable volume HVAC system with new air handlers, and a sprinkler system.
The space is designed for flexibility with approximately 20 percent allocated to individual offices and conference/training rooms, while the remainder is open plan. The color palette and material selection incorporates shades of blue, with the addition of yellows and greens in the dining room to compensate for the lack of light and outdoor views.
