ka has designed an open-air lifestyle component to this existing mall. Freehold Raceway Mall is the only enclosed regional mall in its area with an outdoor lifestyle component. The new area is intended to provide a relaxed shopping experience and unique shops and restaurants to mall visitors.

The completed design compliments the mall’s existing architecture with the use of brick and stone accented by decorative glass, steel, and metal detailing. This design language also translates to the wayfinding system developed for the open-air lifestyle component. The new system was developed as a contrast to the existing signage program to illustrate the different areas of the mall, while relating enough to maintain cohesiveness throughout the entire development. Wayfinding pieces developed for the project include pedestrian directories that give patrons an easy path to their favorite shopping destinations.
