ka was brought into this project as the retail-planning expert to design a 200-acre mixed-use Town Center to anchor the 7,000-acre master planned Lake Nona community.
As part of a three day charette hosted by Lake Nona, ka was part of a group of leading planners, landscape architects, and architects to design a cohesive southern region of the community to include a super-regional shopping destination, a new University of Central Florida School of Medicine, a major bio-medical research community, several hospitals and more residential development.
With an emphasis on place making, ka has undertaken this project as a "Basic Study in Better Living."
In addition to the Lake Nona hosted charrette, ka utilized internal charrettes and role playing workshops to develop a design and identify services and features to provide a better environment for all those who inhabit Lake Nona.
Creating ideas for a "downtown" area with retail, restaurants, and specialty shops, this open-air lifestyle/entertainment center design integrates a pedestrian plaza and community spaces featuring trees and fountains.
